Family Fun Days
Yesterday, we ran a little Family Fun Day on the village green at Elborough Village. The wind was blowing hard and it was horribly cold for June, but we received a lovely warm welcome from everyone, including the boys playing football there when we arrived. One boy, aged about 10, came up and asked what music we would be playing during the afternoon and then asked if he could bring his own CD over to play. I asked him who it was and he said Bob Marley!
Children played on the large play equipment, did some arts and crafts activities (which included making some flying creatures - which flew very well on an afternoon like yesterday!), and watched a very traditional Punch and Judy show. Some of the boys and girls who continued playing football with our sportsworker said afterwards that they had got to know some new children and talked about setting up a football team, so that was a great result. I am wondering if I can include some portable pop-up football goals for Elborough in the funding application I'm currently doing for some more equipment.
The Big Picnic for schools on 20th June that we were helping to organise was sadly cancelled because of the weather, but never mind, we've got July and August coming up, which will undoubtedly be hot and sunny, and full of wonderful events for families, funding permitting!
